About Us

ADI is a story of a family business. We are a value-added electric wire and cable distributor based in Chanute, Kansas, with customers world-wide.

ADI began back in 1990 when Merrill Cunningham had an opportunity to run his own business after a stint in the corporate world led him to working with a friend to grow a new business. Cunningham purchased the distribution side of the company and it became ADI, Inc., a wire distribution company shipping products all over the United States. Together with his wife, Wendy Cunningham, they worked to build the company and grow it.

In 1999 their oldest son, Scott Cunningham, joined the business as Plant Manager.  Soon after Scott’s wife, Staci, joined the company as Accounting Manager. In 2011 ADI added another member of the Cunningham family to ADI. Merrill’s daughter-in-law, Rebecca Cunningham, came on as a Wiring Harness Supervisor. The company rolled along unchanged till 2013 when Merrill and Wendy decided to retire. At that time Scott took over as CEO and Staci moved to Office Manager and Rebecca became Office Assistant as well as keeping her role as Wiring Harness Supervisor.

Most recently in 2018 Merrill’s youngest son, Stuart Cunningham, joined the family business as well. He has taken the responsibilities of Plant Manager over from Scott after working in automotive repair for 15 years.

We pride ourselves in working as a family with our customers. We have grown with our customers to meet their needs. Many of the services we offer today came about from a customer calling us and asking if we would be willing to do something for them. Because we are so willing and able to help customers with their specific requirements, we have enjoyed relationships with customers who have trusted us for over twenty years.

We also have specialty machines for the bonding of wires for multi-colored ribbon cable type products and striping machines for parallel and spiral stripes. Our company also has a battery cable assembly department to build custom products per your specifications. You can be sure that ADI offers personal care. We can even deliver to our customers within a 150-mile radius. We accept MasterCard, Visa, and Discover. ADI, Inc., is a certified respooler with the Underwriters Laboratories number E146138, undergoing regular inspections by UL Representatives.
